Born in Melbourne, Australia, Roby Corelli spent several years living in Northern Italy during his early teens. Upon returning to Australia, he discovered his passion for drums and percussion, beginning a musical journey that would shape his career as a performer, educator, author, and producer.

During high school, Roby was invited to join the prestigious Percy Grainger Youth Orchestra, an experience that broadened his musical understanding and developed his appreciation for diverse styles of music. It was during these formative years that he set his sights on studying at Melbourne’s renowned Victorian College of the Arts (VCA).

Roby was accepted into the VCA, where he studied under respected musicians and educators including Brian Brown, Graham Lyall, and Geoff Kluke. His time at the VCA provided a strong foundation in performance, musicianship, and artistic development.

Following graduation, Roby immersed himself in Melbourne’s vibrant live music scene, performing and recording with a wide range of artists across multiple genres, including reggae, ska, blues, soul, jazz, and electronic music. His versatility and musicianship quickly gained recognition, leading to his role as drummer for the alternative rock band Dry, which subsequently signed a recording contract with Mushroom Records.

As a Yamaha Drums-endorsed artist, Roby travelled to Osaka, Japan, where he visited the renowned Sakae Rhythm Factory and personally designed and built a custom birch snare drum. In 2023, he returned to Osaka to tour the respected Koide Cymbals Factory, further strengthening his connection to the craftsmanship and innovation behind the instruments he plays.

Today, Roby continues to perform, record, produce, and mentor the next generation of drummers. Through his educational publications, online teaching, and ongoing musical projects, he remains dedicated to inspiring drummers to develop their skills, creativity, and individuality behind the drum kit.
